The Area

Torroxeños are proud to use the slogan ¨Mejor Clima de Europa¨, meaning ¨The best climate in Europe¨ and this is clearly not an empty phrase, Torrox enjoys a minimum of 300 days of sunshine. Geographically close to the sea, the coastal air provides a mild breeze in summer with temperatures generally not rising above the 30º and in winter daily temperatures are between 15º-20º, with minimum temperatures between 7º-15º during the night. It is this favourable climate that yearly attracts many Northern European visitors but also many Spaniards from Gránada, Córdoba, Sévilla, escaping the hot summers in their hometowns.

Coast/Beach
Torrox Costa beaches, restaurants and supermarkets are a 20 min drive away with plenty of free parking. The picturesque village of Nerja is also a 20 mins drive, where there are many beautiful sandy beaches, loads of restaurants and shops plus the world famous Nerja Caves.

Golf
Baviera Golf is an 18 hole course situated at Caleta de Velez 25 mins from villa. Several other Golf courses within the vicinity.

Travel
You can fly into either Malaga which is 1 hour 10 min drive or Granada which is 1 hour 55 min drive away. It is mostly motorway from both of these airports. Car hire is essential.

Distances
In addition to Torrox and Nerja, you can visit Competa which is a typical Andalucian whitewashed village and only 10 mins drive away inland. Here you can find many good restaurants, bars and shops. You can also go into the Sierra Tajeda national park from Competa with many beautiful walks, where you will very rarely meet anyone else. There is also the abandoned village of El Acebuchal (25 mins drive from villa) which is now being restored and has a bar that offers delicious food and tapas.

Further details
There is the AquaVelez Water park and a large covered shopping centre with hypermarket (Eroski) between the two towns of Velez Malaga and Torre del Mar off the N-340 motorway junction 272 just 30 minute drive from the villa. There are markets in all the local towns and villages on different days of the week, details of which can be found in the villa. Great bargains to be had! Casa Cielo Alto is a haven for bird watches as many eagles and other birds of prey are regularly seen riding the thermals just above, Sky larks, Hoopoes and Red Legged Grouse also visit.
